This week begins Owen's third week with us. He has proven to be one of the most mild-mannered puppies I know! Don't get me wrong, though. He has his mischievous moments, but for the most part, he's been really quite good...mostly :)

Having just said goodbye to his mom, Rhea, his brother, Sy, and the only human family he's ever known, I anticipated a bit of an adjustment period for Owen. However, to my surprise, he quickly integrated into our household like the last piece of a puzzle falling into place. He and Pebbles became fast friends finding new playmates in one another.

After all that playing, a puppy needs to rest! One of his favorite past times is definitely sleeping. He's a growing boy after all! The first couple of weeks he was with us, he slept in short bursts. Now that he's sprouting like a weed, he seems to take really deep naps for longer periods of time. Then he gets up, plays hard and crashes out.

I know I said it in my last post, but just look at that chubby belly! And let's take a closer look at those paw-paws:

Yup, he's going to be one big boy. I wonder what he dreams about when he naps. Perhaps he's thinking of his next meal or dreaming of his daddy coming home from work. Or maybe he's thinking of his mama. Yeah, that's what he's dreaming about :) Just look at that face!

Introducing Owen to Sedona took a little bit more tact than I had counted on. Sedona took so quickly to Pebbles when I brought her home that I just assumed she would take to Owen just as fast. However, I forgot to take into account that Pebbles wasn't as "puppy-puppy" as Owen is and that Sedona is now an old gal. At first, every time Owen would enter the room, Sedona would leave! Their first encounter was pretty funny, though. Owen decided Sedona was a fun climbing toy.

Sedona was very tolerant of his puppy antics. Soon after I snapped the above picture, they both decided to take a nap next to each other. It was super cute!

It was at this moment we started calling Owen "Mini Me" although I don't think he'll be keeping that nick name for much longer with the way he's growing up!
Since then, Sedona and Owen are like peas and carrots. They're sleeping buddies.

They love to lounge together.

Of course, Pebbles gets in on the act, too!

And it's always fun when daddy joins them outside for a quick romp around the yard.

Speaking of being outside, Sedona and Pebbles love spending time together soaking up the sun when it's not 100+ degrees outside. Are they cute or what?!

I love snapping pictures of Owen in the early morning light. After all, *someone* gets me up before dawn, so why not take advantage of the gorgeous cool morning weather?!

Can you tell he was nosing around in the sand? He figured out not too long ago that he has the ability to dig and ever since then, he sticks his nose in his creation and ends up with a dirty little snout.
When Owen is not sticking his nose where it doesn't belong, he tries so hard to be just like his great Auntie Sedona. The similarities between the two are super sweet. First, he wants to be a big boy and drink from the same bowl as Sedona even though he's not quite tall enough yet.

He likes to stare at random nothings on the floor.

Just like his Auntie.

He feels the need to take inventory of our refrigerated foods.

Just like Sedona.

He likes to McGoober and be silly.

Just like a certain other Great Dane I know.

He wants to be floppy and cute.

Just like, you guessed it, his big Auntie.

Watching Owen grow up and go through his puppy stage is like watching a rerun of Sedona at his age. It's been really fun to see how similar they are, but then again, they are family!
Lastly, I'll share a couple of my favorite pictures. Not too long ago, I was quite tired and apparently so was Owen. I picked him up and put him on my lap, and before I knew it we were both asleep with me spooning him. Travis took this picture for me.
It's sad for me to know that in a few weeks I won't be able to just stick him on my lap and take an afternoon siesta, but at the same time, I'm having so much fun watching him grow into a handsome, well behaved little man.
Maybe one day, he'll be just as wise as Sedona.
(My absolute favorite picture thus far.)
Tomorrow I'll be sharing a video and some jewelry projects I've been working on. Hope you stop by and stay a spell!

I just love the pictures. He is so cute, I like the one with his head in the toy basket, too funny. Looks like family life in Ridgecrest is going great, I'm so glad for you.

I just love the comparisons between him and Sedona! He has a good mentor in his aunt. Love the photo of all three of them sacked out together - that one totally made me LOL!
