Back in April, I had the pleasure of visiting my good friend, Staci, at her home along the California coast. The reason for my visit was two fold. First, we hadn't seen each other in quite a while and wanted to catch up; and second, she had just completed her very first independent film,
The Key to Anabel Lee based on Edgar Alan Poe's poem
Anabel Lee. I thought her film was fantastic! You should definitely check out the official trailer:
Staci herself is in the movie as the more rock-and-roll version of Anabel Lee with the streaky makeup and disheveled hair. Don't let all that fancy Hollywood make-up fool you, though. She's a more toned-downed, rockin' kind of gal in real life.

She does have a signature blue streak in her hair at all times, hence the name of her production company: Blue Streak Productions. Not only is she a screenplay writer, a director and an actress, but she's also an accomplished Hollywood entertainment reporter and author. Just go to Amazon and type in her full name, Staci Layne Wilson, and you'll get quite a number of hits. Actually, my first ferret, Loki, is a character in one of her books, and Sedona is on the cover of another book! My babies are famous! LOL!
I had a great time during my visit. Staci took me to a local tide pool area (she knows me so well). The views were spectacular!

If you ever get a chance to see her movie, this is where she filmed it:

I was a very happy girl when I spotted three marbled godwits. Can you find them in this picture?

This handsome western gull was chilling on the tide pools just soaking up the sun.

And these majestic brown pelicans kept soaring above us (I think we were lucky to not have been pooped on quite honestly).

I had a few gifts for Staci when we got back to her house. I wanted to make something special to honor her first ever film, so I came up with the idea to make her a black onyx donut necklace with a vintage key.

I also made her a lanyard for her press pass so that she could go to press junkets and other such events in style. I opted for cream colored skulls since her specialty is horror films.

I think adding some Swarovski crystals really gave it a softer touch.

I hope you enjoyed today's post! I know I said I would share a video today, but I'm thinking I'm going to leave it for Friday. You'll definitely want to come back and check it out!
