I'm so excited! Did you happen to notice my new blog banner? Guess who made it? ME! Yup, I've officially entered the digital age. I finally installed PSE 6 (it's only been sitting on my shelf for the past year) and just started playing around with it. I have been collecting digi kits for quite a while now, but I hadn't used them because I didn't know how to use PSE. Just a few clicks here and few clicks there, and I figured it out! I'm certainly no
Jessica Sprague, but I very well may be on my way!
Now, on with our regularly scheduled program. Today's card is all about innovation and gift-giving. I learned this technique from another SU demonstrator, and I thought it was simply clever. The card starts out like this:

Then, you pop off the top to reveal this:

It's a gift card holder! Fun stuff, huh? And here's the clever part - it's made from an envelope! Any size envelope will work. All you need to do is lick the envelope closed, cut off about 1.5" from the side, then use a crimper to crimp the remainder of the envelope from side to side so that it basically squishes the bottom portion of the envelope and makes it ever so slightly smaller so that the uncrimped top of the card slides right over. Decorate it as you wish, and you're done! I might do a tutorial for this card, but that will have to wait until after my workshop is over. Who knew it was going to be so much work (but it's so much fun!)?
Supplies: Medium Kraft envelope; Old Olive Ribbon; Real Read, Kiwi Kiss & Whisper White cardstock; Punch Pals stamp set; Word Window punchHave a great Wednesday, and I'll be back with another clever Christmas card tomorrow.

Hey Samantha,
Love your new blog header. Super cute!
And what a smart idea for the gift card. Never would have known that was inside.

How clever! and perfect timing too as I have a gift card occasion coming up. Love the new blog header. Maybe you can teach me how to make my own when I see ya. I have PSE 7.0 but it hasn't been installed yet. I haven't installed it b/c I'm 'skeered' to use it. It's not that hard, right?
cute stuff sam! :) good to hear from you the other day. love the new blog header.
i really like designerdigitals.com for freebies. if you sign up for their emails, they send three every week. and you can check the archives for the older ones. they're really high quality and cool. :)
LOVE the banner! You're inspiring me to play around in PS (which I still haven't really touched).
