My new button bracelets

Remember the craft fair I participated in back in early December? I met a wonderful group of crafters there, and since business was just awful due to a crazy snow storm, we all traded products with each other. I traded quite a few of my products for other fun crafting items, one of them being a button bracelet. The lady I sat next to, Patty, makes the most amazing bracelets from vintage buttons. Instead of making a direct trade with the bracelets that Patty had brought to sell, she offered to make me a personalized bracelet with the button collection I had at home. This week, she brought me not one, but TWO bracelets!! Check them out.

This first bracelet has buttons that represent everything I love. You can see hippos, birds, a dog paw, a ferret charm, a cat print, flowers, a dragonfly, and some very special buttons that I found in a little jar that my grandma left to me after she passed away. Those button are the pretty small silver flower ones that have a little orange bling in the middle (you can see one right on top of the hippos behind in this picture).

This next bracelet was a bonus one! I had so many buttons that she made me another bracelet. How sweet! This one really represents my career as a wildlife biologist with all the nature buttons like the bear, the claw, a butterfly, some more dragonflies, and some more special buttons from my grandma. They're the small silver ones with the blue bling in the middle. Oh, there's also a Celtic knot button symbolizing Travis and his Irish heritage.

I snapped this picture to show you the incredible work and detail she puts into these bracelets. She hand sews EVERY button onto a piece of colored elastic.

If you're interested in getting your own button bracelet, just e-mail me and I'll get you Patty's information!!

Wow! those bracelets are unique & beautiful! What a wonderful way to creatively use up any special buttons....like I have a whole box from my great grandmother. I might just have to try my hand at making one...seeing as Patty probably lives half the planet away from Cape Town :o)

I'm not a bracelet wearer but those are cool enough to just sit on a shelf and look at.
